a little weekend trip to…

I.

AM.

SO.

EXCITED!!!

We’re going to Denver!

A couple things you should know:

+ Jason and I love beer. (We like it a lot… picture Jim Carrey circa 1994.) We went to a beerfest this weekend and talked about how all of the good beers are from Colorado (really, Denver or Boulder) or Portland (Oregon).

+ About a month or two ago, I randomly stumbled upon Frontier Airlines’ website, and they had a bunch of one-way flights to Denver advertised at $64 a person. Since Jason and I had talked at length about how much we wanted to go to Denver at some point, I was a bit bummed when we calculated out the total cost (with a steeper return flight cost and a couple of nights in a hotel) and decided that we just couldn’t really afford it.

+Tonight, I randomly decided to check back on the Frontier website, and found one-way tickets to Denver for $45.80 a piece! As I scrolled through the months between September and March, I found a weekend in which tickets both ways cost only $45.80, which means that Jason and I are flying to Denver roundtrip for a grand total of….

$183.20!!

[For comparison purposes, a round-trip flight from DFW to Milwaukee can cost anywhere from $280-500, and one ticket for a round-trip flight from DFW to Chicago is $180-230.] With a car rental and a hotel for the weekend, the trip will still cost less than two tickets to the Midwest would run us. Booyah!

Now, this doesn’t mean that I don’t love going back to Chicago and Wisconsin. I do… I’m just also very excited to try out a new city, especially since I’ve never been out West (other than a trip to Idaho back in the day).

From Wiki Travel.

Since we’re going in December, I’m pumped that Denver will have their Christmas decorations up by the time we get there… even though I love Dallas’ sun and warmer temps, I didn’t fully get into the Christmas spirit last year.

(If you’re one of my family members… don’t worry– we’re not going over Christmas. You’re still very much welcome here in Dallas. :) )

If all goes according to plan, in the next year we’ll be headed to Austin, San Antonio, Denver, New Orleans, Miami, and San Diego. Whew! I can’t wait for all the adventures!
